It is a beautiful novel, and I can't wait to get my hands on Proulx's other work: Postcards, and Close Range: Wyoming Stories. After each book, I'll post a summary and comments. The collection of stories in Close Range is subtitled Wyoming Stories, and is the collection from which “Brokeback Mountain” originally came. It was originally published in The New Yorker on October 13, 1997, and was subsequently published in a slightly expanded version in Proulx's 1999 collection of short stories, Close Range: Wyoming Stories. I picked this up just to read "Brokeback Mountain." It was the last story in the book and I expected I would just skip to it but I didn't. Maybe you'll decide to read one of them.
